EMIS-X achieves technical compliance with the NHS Tech Innovation Framework
EMIS-X has reached a key milestone by achieving technical compliance with NHS England’s Tech Innovation Framework (TIF) — part of the NHS plan to modernise digital systems in primary care. This compliance ensures EMIS-X meets high standards for safety, innovation, and usability.
Accessible via an internet browser, EMIS-X offers flexible, remote-friendly clinical workflows, with planned enhancements including automation, intelligence, and configurable clinical decision support.
EMIS-X is already available to practices in England, with the TIF-assured version set to pilot later this year.

Supporting summer consultations: managing heatwaves in general practice
As temperatures rise, so do clinical needs associated with heat-related illness. The FourteenFish Clinical Library offers timely, practical learning modules to help GPs and healthcare professionals respond confidently to seasonal challenges.
This month, our spotlight is on the free Heatwaves module: designed to equip clinicians with the tools to manage the health impacts of extreme heat.
This concise, video-led module covers:
- Recognising signs of heat illness
- Understanding heat-sensitive medical conditions
- Identifying patients most at risk
- Practical advice to reduce heat accumulation
- Medications that may need reviewing or pausing during a heatwave
- Adapting consultation and care approaches in hot weather
With heatwaves becoming more frequent and intense, this module supports safer prescribing, effective triage, and proactive patient education. It’s an essential resource for clinicians aiming to safeguard vulnerable populations and deliver responsive, seasonally aware care.

Community pharmacies: ProScript Connect is making original pack dispensing (OPD) simple
New NHS regulations now support original pack dispensing (OPD) in England, allowing pharmacists to supply up to 10% more or less than the prescribed quantity - except for exempt medications such as controlled drugs.
Whether you’re adjusting quantities at the point of prescription entry, during dispensing, or post-dispensing, ProScript Connect supports your decisions in line with NHS guidelines.
With ProScript Connect, community pharmacies can confidently adapt to OPD regulations, enhance operational efficiency, and put more time towards patient care. Learn more here.
