Customer Story | ProScript Connect saves pharmacist hours

Care Quality Pharmacy saved up to four hours a day setting up care home customers in Coventry thanks to a connection between Optum (formerly EMIS) and Med e-care systems.

Before the integration with EMIS’s PMR software, ProScript Connect®, staff manually entered data, which was taking up valuable staff time. It would take three to four hours to set up a care home customer on the PMR and a recurring three hours of staff time a month.

At this stage, under 20% of the pharmacy’s medication was going out in original packs, so a lot of time was taken up dispensing medication into blister packs.

Now, with ProScript Connect and MED e-care systems working together, it takes around 30 minutes to set up a care home customer; 30 minutes of monthly recurring time per care home and more than 70% of medications are sent out in their original packs.

Care Quality Pharmacy are now able to retain care home customers and offer them a best of breed service. In under 5 minutes they receive the prescription from the GP, product pick, safety check and notify the customer that the medication is on its way. Without ProScript Connect and MED e-care technology working together, the process would take far more time.
