Easily support clinical research at your practice

Many practices understand the value clinical research can bring to healthcare but struggle to find ways to support delivery without adding to their already heavy workload.

Recruit allows you to easily support recruitment for clinical trials in your local area. Embedded in your EMIS-X clinical system, Recruit delivers complex prebuilt searches against your primary care electronic health record (EHR) data to surface patients who may meet eligibility criteria for clinical trials.

In just a few clicks you can access and review your generated list and invite patients to register their interest via text or email. Patients can decide for themselves if they’d like to take part, and no data is shared with the research organisation until the patient consents.

Activate Recruit today

I just thought, oh wow that’s going to be easy – I don’t have to do all the searches, there’s a potential income and it’s almost done for you. So yeah, I signed up!”

Steffi Fisher

Practice Manager, Glebelands Practice

Driving representative research

Under-recruitment of patients into clinical trials creates a significant challenge in translating basic science discoveries into medical practice, which in turn impacts on the treatment and quality of care that patients can receive.

But as custodians of rich, coded, cradle-to-grave patient data, primary care offers the potential to transform this, and help to better identify the right candidates for clinical trials from a huge and diverse patient population. Aligned with NHS and government goals to embed clinical research at the heart of patient care, Recruit can enable your practice to support research that truly represents and benefits the whole country.

Recruit is fantastic. It’s very, very simple for us to use and we’re keen to get involved and support more trials going forward.”

Dr Jeremy Clarkson

GP Partner, Barnt Green Surgery

Who can use Recruit?

Recruit has been designed for primary care users, whether you’re a GP, nurse or practice manager. Once Recruit has been activated, all users at the practice can access Recruit and via the studies available. To find out about any RBAC role restrictions, visit Optum Help Centre here.

You don’t need to be experienced in supporting clinical research, nor do you need to be a Participant Identification Centre (PIC). You don't even need lengthy complicated paper-based contracts. Recruit allows you to support the recruitment of patients onto clinical trials but does not mean you conduct any part of the trial at your practice.

Why should I use Recruit?

Recruit gives primary care teams an easy way to support clinical research that can ultimately help to advance medical knowledge and improve patient care. The tool can also generate revenue for your practice, with automatic payments for all eligible patients that consent to share their contact details with the research organisation.

Recruit is empowering your patients to get involved in studies relevant to them from a trusted source. As found in this report, most patients are keen for more opportunities to get involved in clinical research, and the vast majority would be happy to receive information about participation in clinical research from their GP surgery by text message.
