What is EPS?

The NHS Electronic Prescription Service is a digital system that allows healthcare providers to send prescriptions electronically from any healthcare setting directly to a patient’s nominated pharmacy. Benefits for dispensers

The introduction of EPS across Wales represents a significant shift in pharmacy processes. Now, pharmacies will receive prescriptions digitally, supporting you to spend less time on administrative tasks and more time focused on service delivery.

  • Optimise stock control

Pharmacies can see upcoming prescriptions and prepare stock accordingly, improving efficiency and reducing waiting times for patients.

  • Improve accuracy

Digital prescriptions help to reduce the risk of human error compared to handwritten or printed paper prescriptions.

  • Reduce administration

Fewer paper prescriptions means less filing, storage and submission for reimbursement.
