March newsletter 2022

Our March Newsletter is all things new - bringing you our new acquisition, new partners, new training dates and new articles and features to show you the best of what we can do together.

EMIS Group acquires FourteenFish

We're delighted to announce our second acquisition of 2022 with the purchase of medical appraisals specialist FourteenFish.

Founded in 2012 by a GP and an IT specialist, FourteenFish is a UK-based technology company that supports over 100,000 healthcare professionals – including GPs, nurses and practice managers – with their continued professional development (CPD) and ongoing industry learning. It's the preferred appraisal toolkit partner for the Royal College of GPs (RCGP) and delivers the RCGP portfolio for trainee GPs.

FourteenFish will enable us to further support healthcare professionals. You can read the full story here.

The power of data

We talk a lot about the power of data to improve healthcare and make better use of resources and we love to see it being put into action. Frimley Health and Care Integrated Care System (ICS), one of the most advanced in the country in their use of data and analytics, has used our EMIS-X Analytics product, Explorer, to identify trends such as patient behaviours and areas of increasing demand.

Read the full case study on our website or visit Health Tech Newspaper to read their article.

You can also find out more about Explorer here.

Health monitoring: Turning something as ordinary as switching on a kettle into health insight

In our latest thought leadership article, Dr Haidar Samiei explores how the pandemic has increased the trend for remote health monitoring - benefiting patients, carers and shaping new ways of delivering healthcare.

EMIS Recruit – empowering you and your patients to participate in clinical research studies

We have now started to make EMIS Recruit available to GP practices for activation and you will receive an email when it is ready for your practice.

What is EMIS Recruit?

EMIS Recruit enables your staff to view clinical research studies that are recruiting patients near your practice and display a list of potential participants from your practice population that are likely to meet the study criteria.

EMIS Recruit will be available to users via the portals module in the EMIS Web main menu, this will open the EMIS Recruit studies portal.

Important: This is a new service. We expect the first studies to be added to EMIS Recruit shortly. The number of studies will increase over time as the service becomes established and more practices sign up.

Introducing our new Partners 2

Focus on partners

We're introducing some exciting new partners this month.

We've been building our own ecosystem of healthcare technology providers for more than ten years, with over 100 partners now accredited to the partner programme.

We'd like to introduce the latest additions to that programme and how they can help you.

Scan House

Scan House offer us two options.

Storage with Scan-on-Demand

The first is their Storage with Scan-on-Demand service which provides you with a service that manages your end to end, day-to-day document management requirements. This service provides full accountability of customers documents plus traceability and accountability of who handled documents throughout their life cycles, all while saving time and freeing up valuable space for patient care.

Summarising Medical Records.

The second option is their Summarising Medical Record service. The ‘summary’ is the process of summarising a patient’s electronic and paper notes including details such as significant past medical history, continuing problems, alergies and key diagnoses. We understand that clinicians are best placed to summarise a patient’s record but increasing demands on their time can make this impractical so Scan House trained staff can carry out the summarising of notes on behalf of the Practice to free up that valuable time.

EMIS Web

  • Our latest EMIS Web PCN based functionality, consultation write back, has entered the final stage of pilot.

We recently started activating a series of enhancements to information leaflets, powerd by EMIS-X. These include a modern, user-friendly interface and the ability to email leaflets directly to patients. The enhancements will continue to be activated from April at organisations with EMIS Web 9.14.1 or above.

Information leaflets provide you with access to a host of resources, designed for both patients and professionals, at the touch of a button. The leaflets are written and peer reviewed by GPs (or, in the case of medicine leaflets, our pharmacists) and regularly updated in line with latest NICE and SIGN guidance.

You can find step-by-step guides on how to make the most of the new functionality on EMIS Now.
