In celebration of International Women’s Day, EMIS was invited to attend and speak at the Embrace Equity: The Digital Woman in 2023 event yesterday (8 March 2023) in Manchester.

Hosted by Digital Her and hackajob, the event included feature talks, panel discussions and workshops with like-minded women in the digital and tech industry.

Gill Maidens, Programme Director at EMIS, hosted a feature talk at the event discussing EMIS as a technology for good business and her experience working here.

Gill said: “Before joining, I’d never really considered that working at EMIS was tech for good, but as I learned about our origins it all started coming together, and I started to feel really proud about working here.

“I know how my small contributions through the different roles I’ve had at EMIS have made a difference. And that’s the great thing about a career in tech, you have the ability to find a role that works for you and your skillset, it isn’t just about cutting code, there are so many roles you can get into.”

Tracy Butler, Head of Group IT at EMIS, spoke as part of a panel, discussing emerging opportunities in tech and digital for women in 2023.

When asked about contributing factors to her success as a woman in tech, Tracy said: “I truly believe that irrespective of your gender if you show a keen interest to learn, listen to those with experience around you and push yourself forward you’ll be rewarded with opportunities that will help you be successful. Get out there, be brave!”

In celebration of International Women’s Day, a handful of our female leaders shared their success stories at EMIS as women in the tech industry and how EMIS is truly tech for good:
