Monday 20 May is International Clinical Trials Day. Today, we're recognising the invaluable contribution of clinical trials to advancing our understanding of medicine and healthcare.
EMIS was established more than 35 years ago with a clear purpose to improve the lives of patients in the UK, by making data securely and safely available whenever and wherever it is needed.
Back in 1987 this meant making sure patients’ notes were in the same place as the GP. Today it means empowering all of those in the healthcare industry where access to data can support important decisions about the future of UK healthcare. From front-line clinicians, to PCNs to policy makers, and those looking to advance healthcare using insights achieved through clinical trials.
In a recent UK government review, former UK Health Minister, Lord James O'Shaughnessy highlighted how primary care teams could make a meaningful contribution to the field of clinical trials.
Together with Lord O’Shaughnessy and his team, we published a report on our findings back in January this year, with insights from industry leaders and real-world experiences, offering six actionable steps to address the barriers to primary care playing a greater part in clinical trials.
Through small steps together we can achieve great things for the future of health in the UK.
