40% of patients who attend A&E are discharged without needing any treatment*. That's why we’re supporting all providers by giving them the tools to deliver efficient and effective care in the right place.

How can we help?

From emergency departments (EDs) to walk-in centres and minor injury units, we can help to alleviate the pressures that services face by transforming the way care is delivered.

Symphony is our urgent and emergency care system that’s used by 22% of emergency departments across the UK.

Outside of acute care settings, Patient Tracking within EMIS Web allow clinicians to more effectively track and manage their patients. With a patient timeline and colour-coded indicators that help clinicians keep to four-hour targets, it allows out-of-hospital departments to take control of unplanned admissions.

Save time through integration

Our solutions seamlessly sync with various clinical systems to help make departments more efficient thanks to integration and interoperability:

  • GP Data Viewer allows secondary care clinicians to view primary care based patient information.
  • Voice recognition software is giving South Tees Hospitals’ clinicians the ability to speed up annotation in Symphony which is contributing to a paperless ED
  • eDischarge automates the task of discharging patients for a seamless and speedy handover of care
  • Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is able to deliver 97% of discharge letters to doctors electronically within 24 hours with Symphony

5.6% increase in the number of A%E attendances in 2014-15 compared to the previous year

Make fully formed decisions with complete information

With detailed real-time information, departments can make the most effective decisions:

  • Child Protection Information Sharing links up local authority information with Symphony to allow clinicians to quickly identify at-risk children
  • Leeds West CCG is reducing unplanned admissions with our risk stratification tool that identifies the top 2% of at-risk patients
  • Business Intelligence is giving Belfast Health and Social Care Trust a real-time dashboard of information that allows them to immediately identify where improvements can be made
  • Managers at Frimley Health NHS Foundation trust are also using an eAudit solution to run live-data reports to improve care outcomes
  • Patients are able to share their medical record in an emergency with Patient Access, giving clinicians an important view of their health history.

Supporting innovation

We’re working to help urgent care providers in the future too. That’s why we’re collaborating with The Royal College of Emergency Medicine and Leeds Teaching Hospitals to develop the Emergency Care Data Set (ECDS).

Data recorded in Symphony at Leeds hospitals is helping to form the ECDS. Designed to replace the Accident and Emergency Commissioning Data Set, it will properly capture detailed information on emergency department activity across England.
