Delivering social value to communities

Every initiative, development, product and service we produce is created to have a positive impact on UK society.

Committed to social value

As a supplier to the healthcare industry and with the NHS as our largest customer, our technological innovations, projects and software are designed to deliver benefit to UK healthcare and society.

We continue to develop understanding of our impact so that we can amplify and extend the benefits we provide. Four objectives underpin our work:

  1. Improve health and wellness outcomes for citizens and communities
  2. In every initiative, deliver a positive outcome to society and the environment
  3. Raise awareness and educate the public on global health so they can live healthier lives
  4. Collaborate with customers, suppliers and partners to enable them to deliver positive social change

Adding value to everyday life in healthcare

At an individual level, our patient-facing technology helps patients access healthcare services quickly and conveniently.

At end user level, our unswerving commitment to providing excellent technology means that clinicians have the software they need to deliver the best possible patient care.

On a national level, our collaborative work with government, academic, data and life sciences organisations means that we are playing a leading role in developing partnerships that improve population health on an impactful scale.

A long history in adding social value

We’re proud of our long and consistent heritage of making a positive impact on patient health and improving wellness outcomes. For many years we have supported ethical clinical research to facilitate better patient outcomes on a national scale, through large-scale data programmes such as QResearch, OpenSafely, and the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD, part of Medicines and Health Product Research Authority, MHRA). These initiatives have led to meaningful change to improve key conditions such as QCovid (for patients with higher risk of COVID-19), heart disease and chronic kidney disease.

More recently, we have led the charge to support partnerships across NHS and industry collaborators to deliver innovative population health initiatives. Examples of this include our partnership with MSD in the UK and NHS England to support the elimination of Hepatitis C in England, and projects to support accelerated specialist referrals for Atrial Fibrillation and streamlined management of CKD patients in primary care. By deploying Pathway, we’re enabling the identification of patient cohorts hidden within primary care data who may be at risk of this disease and supporting proactive care management by the right team at the right time.

Making an impact on communities

It’s not just our products and services that have an impact on communities. We’re continually looking for ways to support those around us and recognise our unique position to enable change and tackle some of the drivers of underrepresentation in employment and economic opportunity in our industry and beyond. As such, we’ve embarked on partnerships with organisations who deliver educational and skills development into local communities. Our sponsorship of these partners goes towards encouraging those who experience barriers to employment and education to develop an early interest in STEM subjects, improving literacy in schools, and providing opportunities for up- or re-skilling for individuals who may not be able to follow a more traditional route into a Tech career. Employees can volunteer either for these causes or those closest to their own hearts.

We’re also members of the Paddington Life Sciences group, who provide collaborative opportunities for delivering social value to benefit the Paddington area of London (one of our core working locations).
