PharmOutcomes improves clinical access with latest GP Connect integration

Registered GPhC pharmacists will now be able to view a broader range of patient information when delivering NHS clinical services within our PharmOutcomes® system. This includes medications, test results (such as blood tests), and clinical observations (such as blood pressure, weight, height, BMI, and smoking status).
This release follows the rollout of Update Record in October 2024, which supports the transfer of structured consultation data from PharmOutcomes to the GP clinical system when a consultation – for NHS Pharmacy First, hypertension case finding, or contraception service – is completed.
Together, the introduction of NHS GP Access Record and NHS Update Record marks a significant step forward in NHS England’s commitment to empower community pharmacies within Integrated Care Systems (ICS), supporting a more agile and collaborative approach to clinical service delivery.
A step forward for integrated care
Kevin Noble, Director of Professional Services at Optum said: “Giving community pharmacy teams secure access to GP records is a positive step forward for integrated care.”
“Pharmacists can now make more informed clinical decisions using accurate patient data, ultimately improving safety and patient outcomes.”
He continued: "Having timely access to patient records through NHS GP Connect empowers pharmacy teams to deliver safer and more informed patient care, while strengthening their role within the wider healthcare system.”
