Recruit, powered by EMIS-X, is our new clinical research tool which is now available for EMIS Web users in England to seamlessly connect life sciences and healthcare.

This new integrated solution makes the patient recruitment process simple by allowing clinicians to sign up for studies, see a list of eligible patients from their patient population and contact them directly to invite them to take part.

Recruit lists research studies recruiting patients in your area. As a clinician, you can determine which research studies to direct your patients to, helping to drive forward high quality and accessible research to improve patient outcomes.

Supporting the NHS

Recruit will support with the NHS’s long term plan aim to increase the number of people registering to participate in health research to one million by 2023/24. Many clinical trials are delayed because it’s not always easy to identify and find patients who fit the criteria and invite them to take part. A 2018 paper by the National Centre for Biotechnology Information noted that only 31% of UK clinical trials meet enrolment goals.

The involvement of general practice in research to improve care is crucial and we have all seen first-hand during the pandemic the importance and value of clinical research to support medical breakthroughs.

Covid-19 has demonstrated how vital clinical trials are to quickly bring new treatments onto the market to improve national healthcare. With EMIS-X tools, such as Recruit, the UK life sciences industry and the NHS can more quickly find eligible patients to participate in clinical trials, speeding up this vital part of improving UK health.
