Getting the best out of patient data is key to unlocking future health benefits in Scotland
In our latest article, Dr Rob Walter, Clinical Intelligence Director at EMIS and GP in Dumfries, discusses the importance of clinicians’ voices being heard in the consultation around Scotland’s new health and care data strategy and how getting the best out of patient data is key to unlocking future health benefits in Scotland.
Supporting your PCN to deliver Enhanced Access
With the approaching 1 October deadline, we’re showcasing some of our solutions that can support your PCN to deliver against Enhanced Access requirements.
PCN Hub
EMIS Web PCN Hub is a clinical system created specifically to support your Primary Care Network. Expanding on our EMIS Web Clinical Service offering, PCN Hub brings together all the core functionality you'll need to run your PCN, including EPS, GP Connect appointments, care record sharing and our GP workload tool.
With our latest Consultation Write Back functionality launched earlier this month, you can now also enable a copy of a consultation to be automatically written back into a patient’s registered GP record in seconds when they’re seen at another EMIS Web organisation.
Hero Health
New to our Elite Partner Programme, Hero Health provide an online booking solution that automates appointment scheduling, allowing patients to book directly into PCN allocated hub sites at a time and date that suits them.
Integrating with EMIS Web, patient bookings can be scheduled directly into your PCN hub sites via SMS, email or through digital referral – all at the click of a button. With 24/7 access, this solution directly supports your PCN to enhance patient access, whilst reducing the administrative burden for your reception teams.
APEX
Bringing your data to life in a meaningful way can help your PCN to optimise capacity where it’s needed the most, and improve access into services for your patient population. With simple, digestible dashboards compliant with national Enhanced Access reporting requirements, APEX allows you to better understand demand, capacity and activity, and drive quality improvements across your organisation.
Extended Access and Hub Utilisation modules in APEX automate appointment reporting to track patient usage across care settings. With the ability to identify workload demand at practice and PCN level, including activity in a PCN Hub or provided by subcontractors, you can also ensure you have detailed oversight of your Enhanced Access delivery, giving you the confidence that you’re meeting contractual requirements and operating as efficiently as possible.
Stay protected with Windows 10 upgrade
As of January 2020, Microsoft ceased to support Windows 7. This means that computer systems still running on Windows 7 will no longer receive security updates and are vulnerable to security risks.
If your pharmacy is still using Windows 7, we recommend that you upgrade to Windows 10 as soon as possible to help minimise the risk of data breaches, ensure you meet NHS security requirements and ensure your system runs smoothly.
To find out more about upgrading to Windows 10, get in touch with one of our team today.

Driving intelligent decision making with CEMBooks
The NHS Emergency Care Improvement Support Team (ECIST) recently launched the FOCUSED Model, a set of guiding principles to help teams standardise operational site management across acute care settings.
With the model’s key focus highlighting the need for hospitals to have a better overview of departmental safety across their organisation, we take a look at how CEMBooks improves operational reporting across departments through actionable data.
Patient
We're delighted to share that Unsung Hero Awards has named Patient in their top ten healthcare social media accounts advising readers that Patient is a must-follow for helpful and reliable health information.
Pathway
Following up on our feature on the Hepatitis elimination programme last month the programme has now been featured in the Guardian. Head over to The Guardian to learn more about how we're working in collaboration with NHS England and MSD, and how our Pathway solution will help to eliminate Hepatitis C by 2030.
"We can’t afford to wait for patients to come to us for help. We need to go to them. The pilot we’re embarking on to use primary care patient health records to find more people unknowingly living with Hepatitis C is so vitally important. The technology created will identify patients who may be at risk of the virus. Pathway will enable us to leave no stone unturned.”
Mark Gillyon-Powell, Head of Programme – HCV Elimination, NHS England and Improvement.
