Joined up IT links health visitors and GPs in Cheshire

03 Oct 2016

The first ever deployment of the EMIS Web clinical software system into Child Health has delivered significant time savings for health visitors and GPs in West Cheshire.

It's improved the co-ordination of the care of children in the area, potentially saving lives.

Moving from a paper-based system to an electronic system has made a big impact for Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Clinicians have more time to focus on patient care and less on chasing for information. Lengthy processes like accessing vital clinical information has been cut from hours to minutes.

The Trust reports that telephone calls between GPs and health visitors to establish the latest information on a child’s medical record have reduced by as much as 80 per cent.
