We have received Full Roll-Out Approval FRA for the Appointment Management phase of the programme, which is connecting health and care data and making medical information in the GP record available at the point of care across the health service.
Last September, EMIS Health was the first supplier to enable live use of GP Connect, when oncology clinicians at Leeds Teaching Hospitals were able to view vital information in the GP record. In June we received FRA for Access Record: HTML.
This latest development milestone gives EMIS Health the green light to test extended access appointment booking across GP federations. Patients will be able to easily book an evening or weekend appointment at another GP if their own is unavailable. Their medical record will be available to view at the point of care, wherever they are seen. Ultimately, GPs offering extended access appointments will be able to send details of the consultation electronically to the patient’s own GP.
EMIS Health CEO, Suzy Foster, said: “We are proud to continue to work with NHS Digital to realise its GP Connect vision. This latest move will not only enable federations to best utilise scarce GP resources and realise economies of scale in their extended access service, but also offer more convenience to patients who cannot attend appointments during working hours.”
Michelle Mc Dermot, programme manager at NHS Digital, said: “Full Roll Out Approval for Appointment Management in EMIS Web is an important achievement for the GP Connect Programme. This means GP practices will be able to share appointments across extended access hubs and with support services such as NHS 111.”
