EMIS Health first to enable large file transfer via GP2GP

02 Oct 2015

EMIS Health has become the first clinical system supplier to roll out the latest version of GP2GP, enabling users to transfer large file patient records between practices.

HSCIC awarded EMIS Health full roll out approval (FRA) for GP2GP v2.2a on September 9 following a successful pilot project.

It means that large patient records - those of more than 5MB in file size, or with more than 99 attachments – can be transferred electronically between practices.

More than 400 practices using EMIS Web are already benefiting from the new functionality.

Dr Shaun O’Hanlon, chief medical officer of EMIS Group, said: “This is an exciting milestone. Previously, many of the most complex patient records had to be printed out and sent by post.Patients with the most complex needs can now benefit from having their records shared securely and electronically, with cost savings for practices.

“GP2GP v2.2a will be activated across the whole EMIS Web estate in a phased roll out.”
