September newsletter

There's been lots going on across EMIS in September, take a look!

Introducing EMIS

At the start of this month we announced our exciting new brand refresh, transitioning our EMIS Health and Egton brands under one unified brand: EMIS. We’re proud of our heritage and excited for what’s ahead, and we want our brand to reflect our strong ambition and vision of the future. Find out more about our brand refresh here.

EMIS-X

Our teams have been busy since the announcement of EMIS-X - our revolutionary new clinical platform that will enable a seamless, integrated, healthcare technology ecosystem - and we're really excited that the first product to be available on the platform is launching next month.

Explorer, which sits within the EMIS-X Analytics suite, will transform self-service business intelligence for healthcare, delivering unprecedented search capabilities for complex big data sets at scale and speed. Join us at our virtual launch event on 15 October.

Using data to protect public health beyond COVID-19

Data-driven insight is a vital tool in the fight against COVID-19 and the pandemic has escalated data-sharing to support both clinical care and research. In her first blog for the NHS Confederation website, our Director of Analytics Alex Eavis considers how we can build on this legacy for the future.

Flu season

There are many considerations when it comes to successfully managing the flu season at this challenging time. Along with some of our partners, we’ve pulled together a suite of resources to help support you this flu season. Check out the full page here or use the quick links to  resources below:

ProScript Connect and PharmOutcomes two-way integration

Our two-way integration between ProScript Connect and PharmOutcomes enables pharmacists to provide flu vaccination services without switching between the two systems during consultation, saving admin time and reducing the risk of errors. Find out more here

Supporting the delivery of clinical services with Service Hub Manager

As pharmacists take on bigger roles in urgent care and continue to provide an increasing number of clinical services, having a solution like Service Hub Manager can assist pharmacists to deliver these services. With over 50 PGDs available, this integrated module allows you to record and deliver PGDs seamlessly within ProScript Connect. Find out more here.

Power-up your practice with our integrated partners

While practices are faced with new ways of managing QOF, Alka Sethi, Practice Manager at Park Road Surgery in Surrey, talks through her experience conducting chronic disease reviews via email with PatientChase.

Centered on medications, long term condition management and highlighting high risk patients, PatientLeaf consolidates the information you need at the time you need it. Discover PatientLeaf in action at Broadway Health Centre with Dr Aslam

Internet Explorer 11 (IE11)

Microsoft has recently made an announcement about the future of Internet Explorer 11 and its replacement with Microsoft Edge. This news does not affect the support and patching that's available for Internet Explorer 11. As per Microsoft’s guidance the browser will continue to be supported.

We've considered the implications of this and will continue to monitor announcements from Microsoft around the support of the browser and ensure our roadmaps reflect any imminent changes to this support arrangement.

Primary Care

EMIS Web

NHS Digital and NHSX are making the most up to date Microsoft Office 365 (N365) products available to NHS organisations at a greatly reduced cost. To support this transition and enable compatibility, we're releasing enhancements in EMIS Web 9.9 which will be made available to our GP customers in England over the course of October 2020. Find out more here.

Patient

Patient Access

We've updated our Flu vaccination eligibility checker with new 2020 guidelines. An impressive 41,175 people completed the flu checker in the first day alone!

Various enhancements in Patient Access have also been completed around existing remote appointments, clear categorisation of GP and Non GP services and abandoned cart push notifications.

Community Pharmacy

ProScript Connect

This month, we’ve gone live with the flu service integration between ProScript Connect and PharmOutcomes. This process enables pharmacies to record the flu jab within ProScript Connect and have service details pulled down from PharmOutcomes, updated and uploaded all in a single seamless process.

Urgent and Emergency Care

Symphony

  • Symphony now integrates with Cerner’s Health Information Exchange (HIE), enabling care professionals to exchange and view patient data, whether it’s based on Cerner’s EHR or another care provider’s system.
  • We're the first A&E system supplier to get NHS Digital accreditation for 111 appointment booking. Full details here.
  • The latest updates for Manchester Triage have been completed and are available for live deployment.
