Introducing EMIS

At the start of this month we announced our exciting new brand refresh, transitioning our EMIS Health and Egton brands under one unified brand: EMIS. We’re proud of our heritage and excited for what’s ahead, and we want our brand to reflect our strong ambition and vision of the future. Find out more about our brand refresh here. 


Our teams have been busy since the announcement of EMIS-X - our revolutionary new clinical platform that will enable a seamless, integrated, healthcare technology ecosystem - and we're really excited that the first product to be available on the platform is launching next month.

Explorer, which sits within the EMIS-X Analytics suite, will transform self-service business intelligence for healthcare, delivering unprecedented search capabilities for complex big data sets at scale and speed. Join us at our virtual launch event on 15 October.

Using data to protect public health beyond COVID-19

Product updates


HAP Hospital Pharmacy and ePMA 

Version 10.20.01

Version 10.20 replaced High Edit with Tx Text Control for document editing and printing, enabling sites to use 64-bit versions of Windows 10. A reported problem with the commercial medicines unit (CMU) interface not working has been fixed in the 10.20.01 version.

Version 10.21

Version 10.21 is available now and contains several improvements including:

  • improved ePMA performance
  • Parenteral Nutrition enhancements and support for the Baxa Exactamix device
  • security improvements
  • more consistent ePMA business continuity reports
  • improvements in dispensing performance for hosted pharmacy sites
  • improvements to Active Directory authentication

Internet Explorer 11 (IE11)

Microsoft has recently made an announcement about the future of Internet Explorer 11 and its replacement with Microsoft Edge. This news does not affect the support and patching that's available for Internet Explorer 11. As per Microsoft’s guidance the browser will continue to be supported.

We've considered the implications of this and will continue to monitor announcements from Microsoft around the support of the browser and ensure our roadmaps reflect any imminent changes to this support arrangement.

Primary Care


NHS Digital and NHSX are making the most up to date Microsoft Office 365 (N365) products available to NHS organisations at a greatly reduced cost. To support this transition and enable compatibility, we're releasing enhancements in EMIS Web 9.9 which will be made available to our GP customers in England over the course of October 2020. Patient Access

We've updated our Flu vaccination eligibility checker with new 2020 guidelines. An impressive 41,175 people completed the flu checker in the first day alone!

Various enhancements in Patient Access have also been completed around existing remote appointments, clear categorisation of GP and Non GP services and abandoned cart push notifications.

Community Pharmacy

ProScript Connect

This month, we’ve gone live with the flu service integration between ProScript Connect and PharmOutcomes. This process enables pharmacies to record the flu jab within ProScript Connect and have service details pulled down from PharmOutcomes, updated and uploaded all in a single seamless process.

Urgent and Emergency Care


  • Symphony now integrates with Cerner’s Health Information Exchange (HIE), enabling care professionals to exchange and view patient data, whether it’s based on Cerner’s EHR or another care provider’s system.
  • We're the first A&E system supplier to get NHS Digital accreditation for 111 appointment booking. Full details here.
  • The latest updates for Manchester Triage have been completed and are available for live deployment.
